The 2025 rowing season is officially underway, and what a start it was for Hastings Rowing Club at the Adur Head Race, hosted by Shoreham Rowing Club! With tempered but sunny weather and a great racing atmosphere, it was the perfect setting for our first event of the year.
Supporting Our Local Community
We are incredibly proud that, thanks to the Hastings Scout Group, we had a minibus to transport our rowers. Combined with our own boat trailer, we didn’t just get our team to the event—we were also able to support our local community by helping others with transport. A huge thank you to the Hastings Scout Group for making this possible!
Race Results – A Fantastic Performance!
🥇 Novice Men’s 4 – FIRST PLACE! ⏱ 17:23 – A dominant performance, overtaking three boats on the way! Coxed by Paul Hesket.
🥈 Junior Women’s Sculler (Cammy) – SECOND PLACE! ⏱ 23:17 – A remarkable effort, especially considering she was just recovering from a bad cold.
🥈 Junior Pair – SECOND PLACE! ⏱ 15:44 – A strong race, even overtaking another boat!
🚣♀️ Novice Women’s 4 Crews:
⭐ 4th place – 16:25 (Cox: Petra Wilson)
⭐ 10th place – 17:43 (Cox: Captain Vicky Kidd)
💪 This was the first-ever head race for our Novice Women’s crews, and we are incredibly proud of their performance! They put in a fantastic effort.
